NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – North Plainfield, like the rest of New Jersey, continued to bake under a sweltering heat wave. The National Weather Service issued another Excessive Heat Warning today as heat index values approached 105 degrees. The heat wave is forecast to last for the next week.
Tomorrow, heat indexes are forecast to stay in the 90s while heat values in excess of 100 degrees are expected to return on Tuesday. The current seven-day weather outlook has daily highs of approximately 90 degrees.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity levels is occurring. The conditions have enhanced the potential for the development of heat-related health issues among susceptible individuals such as the elderly or young children. It is advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned environment if possible and stay out of the sun. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Strenuous activities should be moved to the early morning hours or evening.
