You are invited to join us as we journey to the Cross and beyond. Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, 716 Watchung Avenue, Plainfield, invites you to a series of worship services (each unique in its theme). We begin our journey through Holy Week with a Children led Triumph Tour beginning at 9:30 am Palm Sunday, March 25, in our Guild Room. Worship follows starting in the Chapel at 10:30 am (pick up your palm frond and get ready to shout Hosanna! as we process to the Sanctuary).
On Maundy Thursday, March 29, an evening labyrinth experience available at 5 p.m. in the assembly room followed by remembering the Last Supper (complete with Communion and washing of the feet for those who desire) during worship in the Sanctuary starting at 7:30 p.m.
Good Friday, March 30, also will have the labyrinth beginning at 5 p.m. followed by Tenebrae Worship, a candlelight service, in the Sanctuary from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Good Friday is a powerful telling of the story of the Passion punctuated with moving musical selections, offered in the stunning Sanctuary. Not to be missed.
On both the evenings of Mandy Thursday and Good Friday from 5 to 9 pm the Lighted Labyrinth returns. This a self-guided experience in our Assembly Room in which individuals are invited to reflect on the various aspects of Holy Week. Quiet, reflective, powerful, it has been described as one of the most moving experiences people have encountered.
