NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – It’s been three days since North Plainfield teenagers Ana Menjivar and Isaiah Pompey ran away from home instead of going to school, and their parents just want them to know they can come home with no repercussions.
“I just want Isaiah to know that he can come back anytime and everything will be OK, that I love him more than anything,” said Linda Pompey, Isaiah’s mother. “We’re not angry, just worried and scared and Isaiah needs to know that everything will be OK if he and Ana come home.”
The families have been doing everything they can to find the young couple, but so far none of the leads have panned out. Isaiah’s father has been going to every homeless shelter and youth center within walking distance of the Port Authority in Manhattan, and a cousin went to a number of music shops and clubs in the Village that play hard core and punk.
“Isaiah loves metal and punk, and we’re hoping that will help us find him,” said Pompey. “Somebody might see them and call us, and if they do we’ll welcome Isaiah and Ana back with open arms.”
The parents have received a number of leads from family and strangers who think they may have seen the couple, and they share each one with the police. Unfortunately, none of the leads to date have panned out and Isaiah and Ana are still on the run.
“We don’t know why the left. Any problems they had were normal ones, but things get exaggerated when you’re a teenager,” said Pompey. “We don’t care about why left, and he’s not in any trouble. Any problems he has we can work out together.”
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Isaiah and Ana should call the North Plainfield Police Department at (908) 769-2937 immediately to help in bringing them home safely.
