PLAINFIELD, NJ - On Saturday, November 12, 2016, the Plainfield Public Library held a reception for photographers featured in its 11th annual photography contest, "The Best of Plainfield: People, Places, and Things.

Photographers submitted images that they view as important in documenting the Queen City for future generations.

There were 23 contributors who entered 91 images of Plainfield, and all have been digitized, indexed, and added to the library's Historical Photograph Collection, which consists of over 50,000 area photographs taken from 1865 to date.

Since the first annual photograph competition in 2006, the library has received 808 photographs from a total of 95 participants. 

An online counterpart to the exhibit will be launched on the website, www.plainfieldlibrary.info.  Previous contest exhibits can also be viewed.

The Friends of the Plainfield Public Library made it possible to award cash prizes, ribbons and certificates.

The exhibit will be on display in the Anne Louise Davis room through December 31, 2016.

The Plainfield Public Library is located at 800 Park Avenue.
