NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Police stopped 56 year old Plainfield resident Debra Jackson last Tuesday at two o’clock in the afternoon for jaywalking at West End Avenue and Route 22. Only a few months ago in August another Plainfield resident died in an early morning incident jaywalking at the same intersection after being struck by a van.

However, this was the only life-threatening risk Jackson was ignoring at the time.  After being arrested for an outstanding $200 warrant from South Plainfield, North Plainfield police officer Bryan Lewis also found a wax fold of heroin and drug paraphernalia in her pockets.

Jackson was subsequently charged with possession of heroin in addition to the outstanding warrant and the ticket for jaywalking.
