NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A North Plainfield man reputed to be a member of the Bloods street gang was arrested yesterday at the Terrace View Apartments on Maple Avenue in the borough.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant on the apartment of Terrance Barker, 31, at about 6:30 p.m. and commenced to search the property. Officers seized two handguns – a High-Point model JCP .40 caliber with the serial number defaced and a Smith & Wesson revolver – as well as almost 100 .25 caliber bullets.

Barker was arrested and charged with two counts of Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm and a fourth-degree count of Possession of a Defaced Firearm as a result of the weapons being found in his home.

In addition to the firearms, officers also found a grow box and light, a digital scale, bags and wax folds that could be used in the production and distribution of various illegal drugs.  The prosecutor’s office has not stated whether any drugs were found in the home.  Barker was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia which is considered a disorderly persons offense.

Barker was arrested without incident, and is currently in the Somerset County Jail.
