MORRISTOWN, NJ - Over 1,000 people gathered at the Morristown Green on Thursday November 8 to demand accountability and transparency from the Trump administration. To show that nobody is above the law, people held signs reading "Resist", "Defend Democracy" and "Protect Mueller"  in an attempt to hold President Trump accountable for his actions.

The Move On group as well as NJ 11th for Change organized rallies all over the country after Donald Trump replaced Rod Rosenstein with acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker. The Move On Organization, in a written response, believes that this move by the president crosses the line and attempts to obstruct the investigation by Robert Mueller.

They stated in an email to members of their group that;

By replacing Rosenstein as Mueller's boss with Whitaker, Trump has enacted a plan he's mused about publicly to prevent the investigation from proceeding freely—he's triggered a full-fledged Constitutional crisis, asserting that he is above the law.3 The next few hours will determine whether he is proved right.

Congress has the constitutional authority and obligation to hold Trump accountable for this abuse of power. But we've seen the Republican Congress give Trump pass after pass every time he crosses another line.

If this isn't the moment they put country over party to hold Trump accountable, it's not clear whether it will ever happen. Let's show our lawmakers that we won't stand by while they allow Donald Trump to slide the U.S. into authoritarianism.

The group held what they called, an emergency "Nobody is Above the Law" rally on the Green in Morristown as well as in other NJ towns including; Asbury Park, Cherry Hill, Fair Lawn, Flemington, Marlton, Mays Landing, Montclair, New Brunswick, Newark, Newton, Ocean City, Princeton, Red Bank, South Orange, Toms River, Trenton, Westfield, Westwood, and Woodbury.

“We, the people, are awake, and we will not stay silent as this president relentlessly drives stake after stake into the heart of our fundamental democratic institutions", said Saily M. Avelenda, Esq. Executive Director of NJ 11th for Change. "We will not be worn down. We demand our current Congress finally stand up to this abuse of power and protect the Mueller investigation, and we look forward to a new congressional delegation next year -- including newly elected Mikie Sherrill in our district -- that will exercise its constitutional duty to impose checks and balances on this out of control executive. Nobody is above the law.”
