WARREN, NJ – Anyone that is familiar with high school swimming knows that depth is critical. That doesn’t mean the pool, but the team, and today Ridge used their depth to out distance Watchung Hills 86-84. In a meet that each race was the difference, and each place was the difference Ridge outlasted Watchung Hills despite the Warriors winning seven of the eleven first places finishes.

The Warriors Kayla Purcell won the 50 free, 100 free and was on both the winning 200 free relay, and 200 medley relay. Purcell’s teammate Marlise Moesch won the 200 individual medley, 100 back and was on both the winning 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay. In a meet that was so evenly match the final relay of the day spelled the difference and Ridge won the 400 free relay with a winning time of 3:58.89. Ridge’s winning relay consisted of Erin Julian, Megan Chiu, Hannah Petersen and Evelyn Bigini. Bigini also won the 100 fly and teammate Audrey Hsi won both the 200 free and 500 free. Watchung Hills’ Samantha Askin won the 100 breast and was on the Warriors’ winning 200 medley relay. The victory improves Ridges’ record to 2-3-1 while Watchung Hills falls to 1-5.
