NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Borough of North Plainfield will officially kick off the 2016 holiday season on Sunday, Nov. 27 with the arrival of Santa and the lighting of the tree at the Vermeule Community Center.
The annual holiday event, which is sponsored by the North Plainfield Parks & Recreation and Mayor’s Special Events committee along with Mayor Michael Giordano, Jr., will begin at 4 p.m. with the arrival of Santa on a fire truck. Attendees will have the opportunity to pose for photos with Santa, listen to carolers, and enjoy free refreshments – including hot chocolate provided by the North Plainfield Marching Band Parents. The event will conclude with the lighting of the holiday tree.
As in previous year’s, residents are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food items and hygiene products for donation. Items donated in previous years include dolls, games, canned food, pasta, sauce, toiletries, and paper goods.
