WARREN, NJ - Amidst discussions of budgets and snow days, in Resolution C2, the Watchung Hills Board of Education also approved a list of coaches for the fall 2018 season at its last meeting, including WHRHS head football coach Rich Seubert.
Seubert resigned as head football coach in February and said at the time, “The hardest day of my coaching career came when I had to tell my student athletes I resigned as head coach. I wish nothing but the best to them and all student athletes and coaches at WHRHS.”
After Tuesday’s meeting, Seubert said, "I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue to be the head football coach at WHRHS. I would like to thank the Administration and Board of Education for allowing me to continue to not only coach the student athletes on the field but off as well. I look forward to a long and bright future here at WHRHS."
The Watchung Hills football team made it to the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 Tournament this season for the first time since 2013. After the game, a loss to Bridgewater-Raritan, Seubert said, “It’s not the way we wanted to end the season, we lost to a good football team last night. I’m proud of my team for the way we fought back this year. Starting 0-5 and finding a way to win 4 in a row to make the playoffs is a special season. I’m proud of all the seniors for what they have meant to this program. We started something special here at WH and we plan to improve on it next year.”
