2020 marks St. Bartholomew Academy’s 70th year educating children. It offers a challenging curriculum balancing technology with traditional learning, small class sizes, before and aftercare, full-day PreK-3 and PreK-4 classes, ten athletic teams, award-winning forensics, and various other extra-curricular activities, including drama club. The Academy has also created an interdisciplinary approach in addressing bullying and other disruptive behaviors using restorative practices, responsive classroom community meetings, and the Second Step Social-Emotional Learning Program. These practices combined with its religion program are a spiritual approach to disciplining that cultivates virtue and provides a rich foundation for fostering faith both at home and at school. Principal Sister Elizabeth Calello has stated, “We are truly blessed and recognize our fortune to be nestled in this community with parishioners who are committed to Catholic education. We are committed to providing a future-ready education to our children, grounded in our Christian beliefs and we look forward to celebrating many more years as a vibrant, relevant, academic, and family-like community.

St. Bartholomew Academy is located at 2032 Westfield Road, Scotch Plains. For additional information on enrolling or the upcoming open house, email To learn more about the Academy, visit or follow St. Bartholomew Academy on Facebook
