GREEN BROOK, NJ – The lane closures on Washington Avenue in Green Brook due to water main repairs continued through the afternoon today. New Jersey American Water sent letters to local businesses and residents notifying them that the work would take approximately six hours.

Police notified the public via their system that the lane would remain closed “until further notice” and to expect delays.

Further complicating the resulting traffic, which backed up a line of cars from Route 22 past the intersection with Greenbrook Road, was a broken down classic Corvette Stingray.  Its bright yellow hood stood out from the construction vehicles in the bright afternoon sun as mechanics tried to get it running again.  As of publication it was still blocking one of the lanes at the Route 22 traffic light.

UPDATE: Green Brook Police report that as of 4:45 p.m. on April 1, 2014 all Washington Avenue lanes are open for use.
