GREEN BROOK, NJ – Watchung police have announced the closure of Hillcrest Road Thursday morning due to weather conditions. This adds to the Somerset County road closures. Green Brook police announced Washington Avenue and Warrenville Road north of Route 22 have both been closed.

The closures of Washington Avenue and Warreville Roads were announced at 6 a.m. this morning as snow and wind battered the area as a strong winter storm moved up the east coast. Schools throughout Somerset County are closed.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has closed all state offices.

The storm did not begin until approximately 5 a.m. Thursday morning, but has quickly intensified. Authorities have reported accumulation amounts in the first hour of the storm to have exceeded an inch an hour.
