LIVINGSTON, NJ - The North Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen announced that Bank of America will be honored with the 2014 Support for the Cure award at its upcoming Pink Tie Party. The event, which is one of the Affiliate’s principal fundraisers, will be held at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Joan Sheridan of Hillsborough, winner of this year’s Journey of Courage, will also be recognized with the formal unveiling of her Journey portrait; Sheridan’s likeness will join the Affiliate’s gallery depicting 47 women and men who have battled breast cancer.

Since 2009, as presenting sponsor of the Susan G. Komen 3Day and Co-Sponsor of the Survivor Recognition Program for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure National Series, Bank of America has contributed more than $5.6 million to the Susan G. Komen organization. The company encourages its employees to walk, run and volunteer at Race for the Cure events all across the country.

“I’d be willing to bet that breast cancer has touched the lives of all of our employees in some way, shape or form,” said Bob Doherty, Bank of America New Jersey market president. “That’s what makes our support of Susan G. Komen so special—and personal—for so many of us.”

The Pink Tie Party is one of New Jersey’s premier fundraising events for the fight against breast cancer. The evening runs from 7 p.m. to midnight and will feature cocktails, dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions. Dress is “festive cocktail attire.” Tickets to the event start at $500 and may be purchased at, or by calling (908) 277-2904.
