Thousands Expected for Sourland Music Festival

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – The Sourland Music Festival will be held Saturday, June 23 from 3-10 p.m. at the Hillsborough Golf & Country Club at 146 Wertsville Road, rain or shine, to benefit the Sourland Conservancy.

Discounted advance-sale tickets are available online only, Children under 12 are admitted free.

“We’ve got a really powerful lineup of the region’s most exciting artists - ranging from pop and reggae to country, rock and Indie,” said Tim Johnson, Festival co-chair. “Artists play every hour starting at 4 p.m. The set order is J. B. Kline Band, Joshua Branson, Nalani & Sarina, The Verdict, Stolen Rhodes, and Flux Capacitor.

Active guests can enjoy the climbing wall, bouncy house and riding automatic bicycles on a trail.  Partner organizations will bring critters, information and activities.

The history of this “Wild West of New Jersey” will come alive in  History Lane. Members of Outwater’s Militia, Van Harlingen Historical Society, Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum, Hopewell Valley Historical Society, East Amwell Historical Society, Northeast Organic Farmers Association of NJ and others will bring artifacts and offer demonstrations and information.

Sourland region specialty food will be provided by Brick Farm Market of Hopewell, Tower Dogs of Lawrenceville, Basil Bandwagon of Flemington, Dellano’s of Long Valley, Maddalena’s Cheesecake & Catering of Ringoes, Ama’s Italian Gelato, Hillsborough and Ryland Inn, Whitehouse Station. 

Adult beverages will be offered by River Horse Brewery of Ewing, Flounder Brewery of Hillsborough, Sourland Spirits of Hopewell and Unionville Winery of Ringoes.

Several nonalcoholic choices will be available and there’s free water all day – just bring your refillable bottle or mug. Sourland Music Festival mason jar mugs will be on sale next to the adult beverage tent.

More than 20 vendors will be at the festival. A VIP experience will be provided by Ryland Inn. Beverages and snacks will be available throughout the day with a full buffet meal provided during the evening. VIP seating is limited and can be reserved only online to those 21 years of age and older.

The Sourland Music Festival began at Hillbilly Hall as a fun event with a few local bands.  Over 15 years, it has evolved into a celebration of the Sourland Mountain region.

“This year’s event aims to educate, entertain and engage participants,” Festival co-chair Suzanne Parsons. “We want to encourage our guests to experience all of the wonderful aspects of our region: learn about the unique history, see and touch the special creatures of the region, exercise on outdoor activities, learn about local nonprofits, meet farmers and pick up groceries at the mini Organic Farmers Market, enjoy food and drink from 10 of the area’s favorite food vendors, and shop at the art, craft and service vendors.”
