SOMERVILLE, N.J. – An early-morning traffic stop in Warren led to the arrest of two suspects from West Virginia and the seizure of 11 pounds of marijuana, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Police arrested Lloyd M. Thatcher, 30, of Grant Avenue and Casey L. Dillow, of Palisades Drive, both located in Morganville, W. Va., according to Robertson, who gave the following account:
Sgt. Robert Ferreiro of the Warren Township Police department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Feb. 27, around 3:30 a.m. on Hillcrest Road, after he observed the vehicle being operating in a careless manner. The driver of the 2015 Nissan was identified as Thatcher. Ferreiro detected an odor of burnt and raw marijuana from inside the vehicle while speaking with Thatcher and Dillow.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 10 plastic bags from inside the trunk containing raw marijuana, weighing approximately 11 pounds.
Both suspects are charged with 2nd degree, possession of CDS (Marijuana) in a quantity of 5 pounds or more with the intent to distribute. They are lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending detention hearings.
