SOMERSET, NJ - May 3, 2016 - The Tri-County Chamber of Commerce met at the Stage House Tavern, located at 1719 Amwell Road in Somerset, NJ, this past Tuesday.  The TCCOC organizes luncheons every month as an opportunity for members and those considering membership to network.

“The luncheons and events are a great way to promote local businesses, giving them more exposure to many local business owners throughout the area,” said President of the TCCOC and Assistant Vice President of Investor’s Bank in South Plainfield Miguel Carvalho.

Jill Ryan, Membership Coordinator for TCCOC and partner at the firm, Scarlett Ryan Consulting, an innovative marketing agency in Fanwood, NJ, said, “The luncheon was a great start in growing the Tri-County Chamber into Somerset County.  We want to be supportive to local businesses in any way that we can.  We want to hold many more events like this one.”

Nearly twenty businesses were represented at Tuesday’s luncheon.  The rustic setting of the Stage House Tavern provided a quiet space for those attending to introduce themselves while enjoying a three-course meal complete with desert.

“I really enjoyed the meal and the company of like-minded business people,” said Mindy Scarlett, Membership Coordinator for TCCOC and partner at the firm, Scarlett Ryan Consulting,  “It is events like this that make it possible to get to know other business owners on a more personal level, making it more likely that we will refer business to each other.”

Those who attended the luncheon represented a diverse group of local business owners, independent contractors and practitioners.

Reshma Shah practices meditation and ThetaHealing®, a holistic healing technique that works with the mind, body and spirit to promote healing.  Shah said, "The luncheon was my first event with this group.  Everyone was so welcoming and I was able to meet many interesting local business owners.  It's an incredible way to network and enjoy a delicious lunch together."

One attendee, Danielle Linares of Linares Creative, has been in the advertising/graphic design business for nearly twenty years creating materials to help small businesses and non-profits market themselves.  Linares said, “It was a nice afternoon to spend with other colleagues, entrepreneurs and small business owners.”

Steve Siegal, Regional Manager of Platinum Choice Bancard, a credit card processing company, said, “The chamber lunches and other events have been effective for me. I have been involved with them about 1½ years.”

Linares added, “Events like these make it easier to meet and talk with others in a smaller setting and get to know a bit more about the people around you.  Even if you don't think at first you may have something in common, you may say one thing and find out that there are ways you could work together after all.”

The Tri-County Chamber of Commerce was established to be the primary resource for businesses in Central Jersey.  The TCCOC strives to promote, strengthen and unite its members by providing opportunities for networking and education while serving as an advocate.

“The events are a wonderful way to get to know and learn about other businesses,” TCCOC President Carvalho added. “The more people get to know each other, the more they build one another’s trust.”
