WATCHUNG, NJ - The Watchung Board of Education welcomed two new board members and a new principal at its last meeting, and George Alexis began his term of Superintendent on Monday.

The Board of Education unanimously voted to hire Karin Kidd as the new principal at Valley View Middle School for a term beginning on Jan. 2, 

She will be replacing Principal Mary Nunn, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Kidd currently serves as principal of New Providence Middle School and is” excited to start in Watchung.” ( see video here)

Jennifer Scharf and Gail Tafaro were administered the oath of office by Mayor Keith Balla and took their seats on the Board of Education. Scharf and Tafaro are both educators and have already been fingerprinted. Mallory Morales will take the oath at the next meeting, pending fingerprinting from the county. Balla administered the oaths due to the absence of the Business Administrator. ( see video here)
