WARREN, NJ - The Warriors have made it to the finals for the first time in school history. The Watchung Hills boys lacrosse team defeated Westfield on Wednesday in the semifinal round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Group 4 Tournament, 17-8. 

The Warriors will face Hunterdon Central in the finals, one of the only two teams they lost to all year. Hunterdon Central defeated Ridgewood and will host Watchung Hills in the sectional final on Saturday. 

“Congratulations to Coach Lovejoy, his staff, and all of our Warrior boys lacrosse players on the terrific victory today in the state sectional semifinals,” said WHRHS Director of Athletics Chris Van Vliet. “The boys will be playing on Saturday at Hunterdon Central for the state sectional championship. The Warriors offense was on fire. Gavin DeFuria led the team with four goals, Brian Richmond, Chris Clintock and Joe Rica each added three. Connor James added two scores and Brendan Dreyer netted one. Jonathan Taub, a Watchung Hills defenseman, also scored a goal.  

Spencer Bokash stopped 14 in goal for Watchung Hills.

Watchung Hills improves to 17-2 with both losses in overtime -Hunterdon Central in the regular season and  Bridgewater-Raritan in the Somerset County final.
