WARREN, NJ - The Watchung Hills Boys and Girls Fencing teams kicked off their dual meet schedule this past week registering wins against West Windsor Plainsboro North and Gill St. Bernards before falling to juggernaut Montgomery.

In the Boys Gill St. Bernards meet, the foil team went a stellar 8-1.   Captain, Dominic Heise went a perfect 3-0 with Henry Engle registering two wins and Zac Velling, Logan McNulty and Steven Lin all chipping in one win a piece.  The Boys Epee team went 6-3 with Daniel Shell and Kyle Rokosny going 2-0 with Michael Rasman and Max Kosempel each adding a victory.  Alan Zu and Vincent Dai each won a bout at Sabre to push the team score to 16-11.

In the girls meet, The foil team had a dominating performance going 8-1 with Brooke Stanicki, Marta Savchuk and Rachel Lee all going 2-0 and Alanna Maargulies and Alison Wolf winning one bout a piece.  The girls sabre team went 6-3 with Jacqueline Lee and Amanda Soliman going 2-0 and Jenna Leski and Cherlin Zhu adding a victory each.  Epee fencers, Julia Liaw and Maya Zhang added one victory each to make the team score 17-10.

In the West Windsor Plainsboro North meet, the Boys foil team once again turned in a dominating performance with Dominic Heise and Zac Velling going a perfect 3-0 and Henry Engle adding two victories.  Alan Zu had two wins in Sabre with Troy Cullen and Michael Vala each  throwing in one victory a piece.  Daniel Shell continued to impress in Epee with two victories.

In the girls meet, Jenna Leski lead the way at Sabre going a perfect 3-0 and Amanda Soliman adding two victories and Jacquline Lee chipping in one victory.  The foil team continued to shine with Brooke Stanicki and Marta Savchuk going a perfect 3-0 and Rachel Lee adding two victories.  Julia Liaw, Chloe Mok and Nicole LoCasio each added a victory in Epee.

Both fencing squads hit the wall against Montgomery.  The Boys held the meet close until Montgomery went on a run to pull out a 15-12 victory.  Alvin Lee had two victories in Sabre.    The girls team fell 9-18 against the defending Somerset County and New Jersey State Champions.  Amanda Soliman and Jacquline had strong showings at Sabre with two victories a piece.

Both squads return to the strip on January 3 against Sommerville.
