LINDEN, NJ - The Watchung Hills varsity football team got its second win of the season on Friday night with a victory over Linden, 12-7.

Watchung Hills scored all 12 points in the first half before Markel McDuffie scored for Linden on a 30 yard pass from Zhyier Myers in the fourth quarter with a Rafael Martinez kick.

The Warriors defense allowed Linden running back BJ George just 118 yards on 23 carries.

Jeff Poggi caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from freshman QB Chad Martini, and Kevin Badger scored on a two yard scramble for Watchung Hills. Sophomore Adam Claxton led the Warriors’ defense, with seven tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.

“This team has worked hard all year and it’s paying off,” said WHRHS head coach Rich Seubert. “I’m excited for the school to be headed in the right direction. We had some ups and downs but we found a way to win again.  I’m proud of my players and coaches for all the hard work they have done this far.”

Watchung Hills improves to 2-5 on the season and next faces Hunterdon Central at home on Senior Night, Friday, Oct 27.

 

Linden drops to 3-3.
