WARREN, NJ -Julia Cunningham had a game high, and school record 40 points, and scored her 1000th career point on the way to leading the Warriors over the Ridge Red Devils on Tuesday85-61.

Junior captain Cunningham became the second player in Watchung Hills history to score 1000 points in a career. She is the first ever to reach that milestone in her junior year. Cunningham also added 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

"I just would say that this evening was a marvelous night for Lady Warrior Badketball," said WHRHS head coach Maurice Kirchofer.  "From scoring 1000 to setting the school mark for points in a game with 40 Julia made the night unforgettable for our program.  She deserves every accolade she receives as she plays a beautiful brand of basketball contributing to the team in so many categories. It has just been such a joy to have her as a player and a student.  She is a credit to her family and Watchung Hills."

Watchung Hills jumped out to a 30-10 lead after the first quarter and Cunningham hit her 23rd point of the game and her 1000th career point in the second quarter on a free throw. The Warriors took a 51-37 lead into the half.

Jayden Baltuch sunk 10 points and Juniors Jess Santo and Alyssa Killeen added 9 points apiece for the Warriors. 

"Congratulations to the Lady Warriors on a terrific conference win! , said WHRHS Director of Athletics Chris Van Vliet. "To the coaches and players, great job! A special congratulations to Julia Cunningham on reaching 1,000 points and breaking the school's single game scoring record with 40 points! This was a special night for Julia and her family; for Warriors basketball, for our athletic program, and for our school."

 

 

Sophie Beneventine sunk 17 points and Abby Ursino scored 13 points to pace Ridge. 

The Lady Warriors improve to 11-3 and remain in first place in the Skyland Conference Raritan division

SCBP Biz Fest 2018 Draws Record Crowd
