Volunteer to Prepare Taxes

If you are comfortable with numbers, like solving puzzles, and enjoy helping other people, learning to be a volunteer tax preparer may be just the thing for you.  United Way of Northern New Jersey along with community partners Greater Providence Missionary Baptist Church and Norwescap RSVP offer free tax preparation services to lower-income households throughout our communities. 

Last year 190 volunteer tax preparers completed 6,100 tax returns. Their efforts helped bring $6.7 million in refunds back into people’s pockets and the local economy!

You do not need an accounting or financial background.  Training will be provided, and you will be working as part of a collaborative team.  The schedule is flexible.  Volunteers sign up for sessions of 3-4 hours at a tax site convenient to work or home.
