WATCHUNG, NJ - Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 5. Watchung voters decided local, school, county and state elections. The race for Borough Council looks to be too close to call.

District 21 - (Morris, Somerset and Union)  Berkeley Heights, Bernards, Chatham Borough, Cranford, Far Hills, Garwood, Kenilworth, Long Hill, Mountainside, New Providence, Roselle Park, Springfield (Union), Summit, Warren, Watchung, Westfield 
      Legislators for District  21


In Watchung, four candidates ran for two, three-year terms on the Watchung Borough Council. The candidates are incumbent George Sopko, and newcomers Pietro “ Pete” Martino, Amber Murad, and Wendy Robinson. William Nehls is not seeking reelection.


Four candidates ran for three three-year seats on the Watchung Board of Education. Incumbents Joseph Barbella and Jennifer Scharf, and newcomers Adam Kraft and Nawaz Sheikh. Barbella and Scharf were appointed to fill vacancies this year. Unofficial results show Watchung voters have elected Barbella, Kraft, and Scharf.


Three new members were appointed to the Watchung Board of Education at a September meeting to fill the board vacancies after Georgia Glasser-Nehls, Tina Kelly and Ellyn Margulies resigned from the board earlier this summer: Jennifer Scharf through January 2020, Gail Tafaro through January 2021, and Mallory Morales through January 2021. 


No Watchung seats are up for re-election to the Watchung Hills Board of Education.
