Holy Savior Academy offers a Drama Club for students in grades 3-8. The Drama Club started 4 years ago and has grown in members each year since! “We currently have 65 members and 3 teacher moderators,” says Mrs. Tripodi, a teacher moderator. The Drama Club typically meets once a month, when not working on a production, and provides students with exposure to all elements of theater, both onstage and behind the scenes. According to Mrs. Tripodi, “the students do various acting exercises, improvisation games, and sometimes will work on creating their own original scripts. It integrates all aspects of the performing arts from art and acting to singing and dancing.”
Currently, the HAS Drama Club is working on their fall production, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” written by Barbara Robinson. The actors, ensemble, and stage crew, comprised of students in grades 3-8 have been focusing and rehearsing daily for their upcoming performance. “It allows the students to experience theater from a behind the scenes point of view and helps them understand the hard work and dedication that it takes to put on a theatrical production” says Mrs. Tripodi.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” will be held on Friday, December 1st at 7pm in the school gymnasium. All are invited to attend. No admission cost, but toy donations accepted for the Junior National Honor Society Toy Drive.
