ROXBURY, NJ – The Roxbury High School baseball team won its 14th game on Friday, rolling over Watchung Hills 9-1 at home.
Offensively, Roxbury did its damage early, scoring twice in the second inning and then five more times in the third to take an early 7-0 lead.
Roxbury’s Will Findlay had two hits and Donovan Brady, Andy Axelson and Brian Dachowski all had base hits. In addition, costly errors and several base-on-balls by Watching Hills contributed to overall scoring.
Freshman Jack Findlay pitched another gem, limiting the Warriors to one run over six innings.
The victory brought the Gaels’ record to 14-7-1 for a season marked with some challenging weather. Rain on Thursday forced the postponement of a scheduled game against Randolph, a contest that is now slated to take place on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Watchung Hills’ senior day game on Saturday has been postponed due to weather.
