BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, on Commons Way, is hosting a Kitten Shower April 17 to prepare for kitten season.
The event will be held from noon to 7 p.m., with cake cutting at 5 p.m., to collect supplies and monetary donations for the kittens that will be arriving this spring.
Shelter manager Brian Bradshaw said they expect to see a lot of kittens coming in because of the mild winter.
"Your generous donations will provide much needed supplies so that we can care for these precious newborns until they are ready to be placed in permanent homes," he said in a release.
The shelter has been hosting off-site adoption events and fundraising drives at local pet stores and businesses. In addition, they will be holding a Dining to Donate at Zinburger Bridgewater June 6, and the annual Heart & Sole Walk Oct. 13.
"With rising costs in the near future, now more than ever we need your help," said assistant shelter manager Rose Tropeano in the release. "Without community support, we would not be able to save as many animals as we do."
"In 2018, we saw an increase in the amount of animals we serve," she added. "In order to continue helping so many animals, we need the support of local businesses and patrons, which is why are hosting these fundraising events."
