NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - National Night Out is around the corner. Chief William Parenti announces that the North Plainfield Police Department will hold its 15th Annual National Night Out on Aug 6.
National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
America’s Night out against Crime celebration and Public Safety Vehicle Expo will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. The event, which will feature free, fun and informational activities for the whole family, will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the parking lot across from the Municipal Building at 263 Somerset Street. This event has grown larger and larger each year.
This year’s National Night Out will include a display of public safety emergency equipment from the North Plainfield Police Department and the North Plainfield Fire Department as well as specialized equipment from the tactical SWAT and dive/rescue elements of the Somerset County Emergency Response Team. Attendees will have an opportunity to view and handle various pieces of equipment including a portable observation tower. Again this year, a DJ will provide music, and hamburgers, hotdogs, soda and Italian ice will be served. Handouts and pamphlets will also be available on such topics as domestic violence, gang awareness, identity theft, block watch associations, and crime prevention. A shredder truck, courtesy of Safe Guard Document Destruction, will be available for people to shred their documents safely.
