WARREN, NJ - The arrests of Quinton D. Parks, age 30, South Avenue, Plainfield, New Jersey and Jose I. Lopez, age 25, W. Francis Street, Iselin, New Jersey for a robbery which occurred in Warren Township were announced by Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Warren Township Chief of Police William E. Keane on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at approximately 1:38 a.m., Warren Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an armed robbery in the area of Quail Run, Warren Township. Responding Officers encountered two victims who relayed to officers that they were robbed at gunpoint of cash by two males. The victims provided officers with a description of the vehicle, along with a detailed description of the two males. Warren Township Police broadcast the description provided to surrounding agencies. A short time following the release of the description, Dunellen Police encountered the suspect vehicle traveling within their jurisdiction. Dunellen Police conducted a motor vehicle stop which determined that the two occupants of the vehicle matched the description provided of the suspects by Warren Township Police. The occupants of the vehicle were subsequently identified as Quinton D. Parks and Jose I. Lopez.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that detectives from the Warren Township Police Department along with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to conduct the investigation. The investigation revealed that defendants Parks and Lopez were the actors involved in the armed robbery of the two victims in Warren Township. The incident was determined to be an isolated incident, and investigators determined that one of the suspects was known to one of the victims. The victims were not injured in this incident.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that defendants Parks and Lopez were each charged with first degree Robbery, second degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, and third degree Possession of CDS (Marijuana over 1 ounce but less than 5 pounds) with the Intent to Distribute. Defendants Parks and Lopez were each lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
