BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (LVSC) is holding an information session to learn more about becoming a volunteer adult literacy tutor.

Information sessions will be held at the Franklin Township Library April 8 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; at the Bridgewater Township Library April 9 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and the Hillsborough Township Library April 10 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The organization is recruiting volunteer tutors to teach literacy skills to adult learners. Tutors will receive 12 hours of training in English for Speakers of Other Languages during four weekly sessions.

Once the sessions are over, tutors will be matched with an adult learner, and they will meet once a week for tutoring sessions, usually at a local library.

The spring tutor training class will be held on consecutive Wednesdays in May from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The PeopleCare Center, in Bridgewater. The sessions will be held May 1, May 8, May 15 and May 22.
