SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Faith Price scored the only goal of the game on a pass from Katarina Zikas to lift Scotch Plains-Fanwood over Watchung Hills in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 tournament on Friday. The Raiders will face Westfield on Monday.

“Obviously when you lose in the state tournament, not only is it a loss, but you also know your season is over and your seniors' careers are over,” said WHRHS head coach Brian Figueriedo.  “The second part is much more difficult to accept for me.  We put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this program, and none of it would be possible without the work ethic and leadership of our seniors.  We made great strides this year after a tough start, and the players are the reason we righted the ship and ended up with a winning record.  I’m as proud of this team as I’ve been of any other team I’ve coached in my 6 years here.  Unfortunately, we ran into a really good Scotch Plains team, and couldn’t find a way to get the tying goal and potentially keep our season going.”

Watchung Hills finishes the season, 12-10.
