Dear WHRHS Learning Community,

As per my August 20th letter to the community, Principal Alexis is moving on from Watchung Hills to lead the Watchung K-8 district as Superintendent. Although we are losing an outstanding educator, Watchung is gaining a compassionate, dedicated leader. While we conduct a thoughtful and comprehensive search for a new high school principal, Mr. Frank Howlett will be serving as our interim principal, effective September 30, 2019. It is my pleasure to welcome Mr. Howlett to the Watchung Hills Regional High School community!

Mr. Howlett brings with him over 30 years of educational experience. He is returning to his roots as he began his educational career as a math teacher here at Watchung Hills. Most recently, he retired after 10 years as Ridge High School Principal. Prior to that, he served as Principal of William Annin Middle School in Basking Ridge and Assistant Principal of Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights.

Mr. Howlett will be working closely with our staff, students, and parents to ensure a smooth transition through the fall. I am confident that his experience leading high performing school districts within supportive communities will allow the Watchung Hills Regional High School District to continue on our path toward being even better tomorrow than we are today.

Warm regards,

Elizabeth C. Jewett, Ph.D. Superintendent
