NORTH SALEM, N.Y.-The North Salem girls basketball team has gotten off to a good start this season, but another team that’s been playing well recently—Brewster—handed the Tigers a 54-44 loss Jan. 3 on their home court.
Brewster came out with more energy early and took advantage of a sluggish North Salem start to build a 22-13 lead at the end of one quarter.
The Tigers fought to get out of that hole for the rest of the game, trailing 30-25 at halftime, and falling behind 46-31 at the end of three.
“I felt good going into the game, but Brewster had a very good first quarter,” North Salem coach Eric Buzzetto said. “That was not the start we wanted, so we had to fight back from that. We cut it to six with about a minute to go in the fourth quarter, but against the better teams you can’t dig a big hole and expect to come back the way we have earlier.”
