NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Democrats in county races performed well last night.

Democrat incumbent Michael Kaplowitz (District 4), which represents parts of Yorktown and Somers, was uncontested and Republican John Testa (District 1) defeated Democrat Nancy Vann, 7,863-6,240, in a race representing Yorktown among other towns.

In the county-wide races, incumbent Republican County Executive Rob Astorino was ousted by Democrat George Latimer, 116,767-89,463, and Democrat county-clerk incumbent Timothy Idoni won a landslide victory over Republican Jim Chisholm, a resident of Somers, 123,245-69,249.

February 15, 2018

To the editor,

I am responding to guest columnist Sy Globerman’s article, “Trump is revivifying America” in the Thursday, Feb. 8 edition of your newspaper.

Mr. Globerman is right on target. Bravo to him for stating the facts about President Trump. All we seem to read and hear from the media is Trump bashing.

Therefore, it’s quite refreshing to read about ...
