North Salem Ready to Defend Title

Rian Balbino and North Salem are looking to repeat as Section 1 Class C champions.

NORTH SALEM, N.Y.— It’s tournament time and the North Salem baseball team is itching to get on the field to defend its Section 1 Class C title.

The Tigers, who won their league championship, garnered the No. 2 seed and received a bye into the semifinals. They hosted the winner between third-seeded Solomon Schechter and sixth-seeded Alexander Hamilton on Wednesday, May 24.

A win there advances them to the championship game on Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls.

The defending state champions will face either top-seeded Tuckahoe or the winner between fifth-seeded Pawling and fourth-seeded Haldane. North Salem (12-4) defeated Tuckahoe 9-4 in the finals last season.
