NORTH SALEM, N.Y.— Despite being delayed after a couple of snow days, North Salem High School students celebrated Pi Day on March 16 with pencils and pies galore.

“There were 12 pies entered into our annual contest and two students – Sara MacLeod and Nancy Wiegelman – emerged as the winners,” said math teacher Anne Bratt.

The day also included a contest that challenged students to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar, with Aaron Brethower winning with a guess of 674 jelly beans.

Funds raised during the day’s activities will be donated to a worthy cause selected by the Math Honor Society.

“The members wish to thank all who were able to participate in this FUNdraiser,” said Bratt. “We look forward to celebrating again next year!”

Less development and fewer traffic lights showcase nature’s bounty uniquely during each season and I never tire of taking it all in. I often stop and take pictures on my ...

What consistently rates 4.9 to 5.0 on the major customer review sites? What business is both destination and resource, a tradition, a haven, valued, endangered and has something for everyone, at every age?
Hands down, it is your local independent bookstore. They have faced challenges (think “When Harry Met Sally”) and still do (um, Amazon), but those that remain have carved out ...
