NORTH SALEM, N.Y.-Developers of a dilapidated gas station on Fields Lane presented an amended site plan at the Planning Board meeting Feb. 21, restarting a process that town officials thought had wrapped up last year.

Last March, the Planning Board approved a site plan for the vacant gas station at 2 Fields Lane that was submitted by Foodmarts Inc., owned by Joseph Bryson. But a year passed with no progress until last month, when engineer Marc Petroro of Armonk-based JMC introduced amended plans.

The changes are minor in nature, meaning such things as traffic studies and stormwater design will remain the same, but the developer needs to apply for variances from the Zoning Board.

Hands down, it is your local independent bookstore. They have faced challenges (think “When Harry Met Sally”) and still do (um, Amazon), but those that remain have carved out ...
