NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Whenever a team suffers a loss it hopes it can get a shot at retribution at some point down the line.
The Tigers only had to wait two days.
Behind a complete game, two-hit shutout from senior Dan Capra, North Salem got its revenge in the form of a 2-0 win over visiting Our Lady of Lourdes on Friday, April 15.
Capra struck out 11 batters and needed just 78 pitches to cap off the gem.
The lethal pitching combination of Capra and Connor Mahoney has been stellar in the early going for the Tigers, which improved to 5-2 with the win.
“We are very confident in our pitching staff so far,” North Salem coach Rob Gilchrist said. “Giving Danny Capra and Connor Mahoney the ball every fifth day gives us a very good chance to win.”
North Salem was blanked by host Lourdes 8-0 on Wednesday, April 13.
“We had to piece together pitching that day because our main guys pitched in prior games,” Gilchrist said.
The Tigers will travel to Pawling for a 4:30 p.m. game on Thursday, April 21. They will then head to Dutchess Stadium to take on Haldane at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 24.
