NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Democrats in county races performed well last night.

Incumbent Republican County Legislator Francis Corcoran in the District 2 race (which covers North Salem and a small portion of Somers) was defeated by Democrat Kitley Covill, 8,212-6,614.

Democrat incumbent Michael Kaplowitz (District 4), which represents parts of Yorktown and Somers, was uncontested and Republican John Testa (District 1) defeated Democrat Nancy Vann, 7,863-6,240, in a race representing Yorktown among other towns.

In the county-wide races, incumbent Republican County Executive Rob Astorino was ousted by Democrat George Latimer, 116,767-89,463, and Democrat county-clerk incumbent Timothy Idoni won a landslide victory over Republican Jim Chisholm, a resident of Somers, 123,245-69,249.
