Kyle Singer (North Salem Baseball)

My favorite sports book is “Eight Men Out.” It is the story of the eight men banned from baseball for throwing the 1919 World Series.

Chris Regan (North Salem Golf Coach)

My favorite basketball sports book is “My Losing Season” by Pat Conroy. As a basketball coach and fan, it really shows the love and passion that young players have for the game. My favorite golf book is “Open” by John Feinstein. It's an inside look at when the U.S. Open first went to Bethpage Black on Long Island in 2002. I played Bethpage Black 20-25 times before the Open went there when I was in college and after, so I could really visualize what he was writing about because I was so familiar with the course.

Chris Gould (North Salem Track Coach)

“God on the Starting Line,” “Born to Run,” “Unbroken”

Rob Gilchrist (North Salem Baseball Coach)

Being that Derek Jeter is my favorite baseball player, I would have to go with the book written by Ian O'Connor, “The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter.”

Geoff Curtis (John Jay Baseball Coach)

“The Natural.” Although, stick to the movie if you want a happy ending (spoiler alert)!

Thomas Parisi (Somers Baseball)

I don’t read too many books anymore, but when I was younger I enjoyed reading sports books by Mike Lupica.

Anthony Nappi (Somers Baseball Coach)

“The Hard Hat” by Jon Gordon. Coach Mychael Lugbauer and Coach Shaun McGee (Mahopac) introduced me to the book and it really emphasizes the mindset we want to have at Somers.

Leigh Fiorito (Somers Golf Coach)

“The Art of War” and “It’s a Mental Thing.” Both illustrate necessary lessons.

Jesse Arnett (Somers Track Coach)

There are so many that I love but I will never forget reading as a kid the book, “Jim Abbott: Against All Odds.” His story is one of overcoming obstacles and should be looked up to by all.

C.J. Riefenhauser (Yorktown Baseball Coach)

My favorite book is “Legacy.” It’s about the New Zealand rugby team.

Lauren McAulay (Yorktown Girls Lacrosse Coach)

I just started reading “The Mamba Mentality: How I Play.”

Tim O'Callaghan (Yorktown Boys Lacrosse)

My favorite sports book I have read is “I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic” because I am a huge soccer fan and it took me inside the mind of one of my favorite elite competitors.

Kelsey McDonnell (Yorktown Girls Lacrosse)

My favorite sports book is “The Blind Side.” It’s an all-around great story that is very likeable to many, but I feel it has a positive impact on athletes. To add to that the movie that came after was also impactful, and a favorite of mine.

Zach Esteves (Mahopac Boys Lacrosse)

My favorite sports book would probably be "Friday Night Lights" by H.G Bissinger.

Kelley Posch (Mahopac Track Coach)

“Running with the Buffaloes” or “Once a Runner”–fantastic examples of teamwork and grit in our sport.

Myckie Lugbauer (Mahopac Baseball Coach)

I really enjoy “The Hard Hat: 21 Ways to Be a Great Teammate” by Jon Gordon. This is a book that I require my team to read every year. It is about a former Cornell lacrosse player (George Boiardi) who lost his life playing on the field, but the book tells stories about all the ways that he was a great teammate and the lessons that a team can learn from him. We give a hard hat out after every game to a player who has done something to be a great teammate during the game.

Matt McMahon (Mahopac Track)

My favorite sports book is “Go up for Glory” by 11-time NBA champion, Bill Russell.
