NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – North Salem’s girls and boys basketball teams celebrated their seniors on successive nights last week.

First up on Monday, Feb. 10, was the senior-laden girls squad, which will graduate seven of its nine players: Julia DeSanto, Liz Squire, Joan Herlihy, Hannah Carminucci, Leah Wright, Megan Wright and Amanda Marano.

The boys, on Tuesday, Feb. 11, honored four seniors of their own: Emmet Halton, Steven Herlihy, Mike Horan and Kevin Ryan.

Both games also served as season finales for the teams. The girls fell 50-45 to Haldane while the boys defeated Pawling, 44-30.

It was business as usual for the boys, who improved to 14-6 and picked up their 12th straight victory behind a strong performance from junior Anthony Foglia (17 points, 16 rebounds). Ryan (9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) and Roger Squire (9 points) also helped lead the Tigers to victory.

The girls, who fell to 9-11 with the loss, were led by Liz Squire, who scored 15 points.
