STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – North Salem junior Ava Jolley ran a personal record time of 10:03.57 in the 3,000-meter to take sixth among public-school runners at the New York State Championships, held March 7 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Jolley finished eighth in Federation (public and private schools combined).

“It was a real battle for eighth place and Ava revved it up with 400 meters to go and held on in a personal best time of 10:03.57, breaking her own school record,” said Coach Chris Gould. “Her post-race smile was worth every workout it took to get there.”
