IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Dominic Barrella, an eighth-grade wrestler from North Salem, took first place in the 99-pound weight class at the first-ever Michael Tarulli Memorial Tournament at Irvington High School on Saturday, Dec. 14.

A member of the combined Somers-North Salem team, Barella competed against five other wrestlers in the round-robin style tournament.

He finished the day 4-1, with his only defeat coming to a Sayville wrestler via forfeit. He won all other matches by pin, taking just over 6 minutes combined to defeat wrestlers from Irvington, Clarkstown South, Ossining and Sleepy Hollow.

His sister, freshman Carolyne Barrella, competed in the 120-pound division. She pinned an Irvington wrestler in 48 seconds in the seventh-place match.
