FLORHAM PARK, NJ - With what is expected to be a record week for holiday travel, motorists in the Garden State are discovering that gasoline prices are down, slightly.
AAA Northeast's July 2 weekly survey of gas prices found that the average price is $2.88 in New Jersey. It is one cent less than last week, and 13 center less than a month ago when a gallon of gasoline averaged $3.01.
The national average for a gallon of gas is $2.85, one cent higher than last week.
“Prices are at their highest point for Independence Day since 2014, but are still 11 cents lower in New Jersey than this past Memorial Day,” said Robert Sinclair, Manager of Media Relations for AAA Northeast. “That trend is good news for the almost 40 million Americans taking a road trip this week.”
