NUTLEY, NJ - Local businesses Bucco Couture and AdmiralAirtech came to the rescue to finance the Nutley Volunteer Emergency and Rescue Squad's (NVERS) lawn sign fundraiser.
The squad receives no funding from the Township of Nutley, and instead relies on fundraisers to support the local ambulance corps. With COVID-19 canceling their fundraisers this season, local businesses have stepped up to the plate to support NVERS.
The squad created a lawn sign as a fundraiser. The sign allows residents to show support for all first responders with emblems to represent police, fire, ems, and medical front-liners. That first sign sold out quickly.
When Al Bucci of Admiral AirTech and Carmen Bucco of Bucco Couture, both located on Franklin Ave, heard of the success of that fundraiser, they paid for the next generation of signs themselves. Every dollar of every sign purchased by a local supporter will now go to NVERS.
The signs, available for order online through NVERS at #HeroesWithoutCapes, are $30. Knowing the challenges faced by Nutley Family Service Bureau, the team at the rescue squad are donating $2 of every lawn sign purchase to the food pantry program there. The remaining $28 will fund the rescue squad.
NVERS issued a statement: "When our first responders are driving through our neighborhoods in Nutley coming and going to work, they can see the appreciation from the community!"
