MILLBURN, NJ - 'Annie Get Your Gun' lead actor Maggie Spector-Williams was just nominated for a Paper Mill Playhouse 2017  Rising Star Award.  'Annie Get Your Gun' ran for several nights earlier this year in Nutley High School as a part of the Performing Arts programs.                           

'Annie Get Your Gun' is a musical play based on a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley. Oakely was a sharpshooter in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and lived for a time in Nutley NJ.

Spector-Williams is one of seven New Jersey High School actors nominated in the 'Actress in a Leading Role' category. As a nominee, she will receive a scholarship to Paper Mill Playhouse's Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory. While attending this professional training program, she will have the opportunity to take advanced classes in singing, acting and dance. Nominees will also have the opportunity to perform onstage at Paper Mill Playhouse in the season finale concert, "New Voices of 2017: Everyone Loves an Underdog!" on July 28 and July 29. In September, Spector-Williams will be attending Sarah Lawrence College with a focus in performing arts.

Since their inception in 1996, the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey. The 2017 Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards Presented by the Investors Foundation ceremony will take place at Paper Mill Playhouse on Tuesday, June 6, at 7:30pm, featuring presenters from Broadway and beyond.

Nutley High School also received an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra.
