BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield Center Alliance, Inc. (BCA) has been holding cars shows downtown Wednesday nights--including tonight--throughout the Summer, and Dinner Under the Stars events every other Friday, including this coming Friday August 10th.
Every Wednesday from 6:00-9:00pm, residents can expect to see 40-60 classic cars parked along Broad Street, and enjoy Cruise Nights Specials, generous discounts on food available exclusively on the evening of the event. A total of eight local restaurants participate, including the event’s Entertainment Sponsor – Burgers Grilled Right (BGR), which sponsors the deejay music played every week.
BCA is also hosting Dinner Under the Star events, Friday nights from 6:00-10:00pm, on Washington Street. This week’s special guest will be singer/guitarist Laura Bowman. The Summer’s final Dinner Under the Stars will take place August 24th.
“The Bloomfield Cruise Nights and Dinner Under the Stars events are part of what makes this such a special place to live. Most towns don’t have free community gatherings like this during the summertime, let alone weekly. I know that my family, and the families of my colleagues on the Township Council, love Bloomfield Cruise Nights and Dinner Under the Stars, and I encourage all residents to enjoy the beautiful weather, great food, and cool cars that the BCA works so hard to present to the community,” said Mayor Michael Venezia.
“Summer time in Bloomfield is so special because there is always something for children and families to do together, or independent of each other. The drive-in movies shown by the Recreation Department are always a hit, as are our Dinner Under the Stars and Cruise Nights,” said BCA Director Ollyn Lettman. “The BCA is grateful for the support we have received from the Mayor and Council, and the volunteers and businesses who give their time and resources to make our outdoor summer events as successful and fun as they are. I encourage anyone interested in displaying their classic or antique car to contact the BCA at 973-429-8050.”
Wednesday, August 29th will mark the final Cruise Night of Summer, with a special Parade of Cars driving from Brookdale Shoprite and driven toward Broad Street and Bloomfield Ave. with a police escort, at 5:40pm.
The BCA is a non-profit community development organization that works alongside the Township of Bloomfield and the Department of Public Works to maintain a vibrant downtown district that benefits merchants, property owners and residents of Bloomfield. In addition to its summer outdoor programs, the BCA works to improve the image of Bloomfield Center through clean-up projects such as the exterior restoration of the Bloomfield Train Station last summer.
