SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The recently-renovated Orange Lawn Tennis Club has a new restaurant owned by an award-winning chef.
David Burke opened David Burke at Orange Lawn, a restaurant that will serve modern American cuisine with Italian influences. Burke is a James Beard award winner.
The restaurant will be located in the clubhouse and Burke's cuisine will also be served at the 40 Love Pub, which is located by the poolside.
Some of the signature items on the menu include the salt-aged beef, hand-crafted pastas, veggie-forward dishes, lobster dumplings, scallops and octopus, and Pastrami-smoked salmon. The restaurant will also offer a wide selection of wines and specialty cocktails such as the rye-based Advantage Lillet.
"The thrill of creating inspiring new menus while showcasing some of my signature dishes is always something I look forward to," Burke said in a press release about the restaurant opening.
The restaurant is open to the public through the Orange Lawn Tennis Club's dining club membership.
Aside from his American cuisine with Italian influences, Burke will also have an on-site herb garden with dinners that include fresh and seasonal ingredients for the dishes and cocktails at the Orange Lawn Tennis Club. He will also offer cooking classes, wine dinners, and will have a patented salt meat aging room at the facility.
"Chef Burke's unparalleled creativity and extraordinary talent will create an exciting dining and entertainment experience that the surrounding community will truly treasure, and won't find elsewhere in the Essex County area," said Orange Lawn Tennis Club President Bruce Schonbraun in the press release.
David Burke at Orange Lawn will be opening this spring. Press spokesperson for David Burke at Orange Lawn Krisna Bharvani said the date has yet to be determined.
David Burke at Orange Lawn is part of many renovations that recently occurred at the 140-year-old Orange Lawn Tennis Club, which is located on Ridgewood Road. Under the renovation program, the club grounds, buildings and activities at the club were enhanced. The clubhouse now has a more modern dining room, a banquet space that can accommodate up to 225 guests, and a sports bar lounge.
