NUTLEY, NJ - Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are advising of a suspicious encounter.


Nutley Police are investigating an incident that occurred today 1/23/2017 at approximately 7:45 AM.


A 13 y/o Nutley Student reported to police that while walking to school an older man pulled next to him and offered him a ride. The juvenile told police he did not know the man and described him as - in his fifties, gray hair and gray goatee. Driving a red minivan. He did not follow or attempt to lure the juvenile and committed no crime.

Police are investigating, to confirm incident was nothing more than a ride offer.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Franklin Ave and High St. and request anyone who may have witnessed or has information to contact Police at 973-284-4940
