NUTLEY, NJ - November 2019 turned out to be a big news month in Nutley with major stories breaking almost every week including Board of Education election news, two candidates announcing their run for the Board of Commissioners, a family reunion, and proof that the township really does have a Disney side. The Community School in Nutley became the subject of a State of New Jersey investigation after a toddler went missing from their St. Paul's Congregational Church site. The toddler, who went missing on Nov. 4 sometime after being dropped off by his father, was reunited with his parents, unharmed after being found on Franklin Ave. in the vicinity of Starbucks.

A lifelong Nutley resident was charged with aggravated assault after a dispute in the area of High St. and Franklin Ave. at the end of a Board of Education election victory party. The dispute included a response by six Nutley patrol vehicles and the Nutley Emergency Volunteer and Rescue Squad.

Details emerged in November about an incident that took place during the annual Belleville-Nutley Columbus Day Parade. According to the Nutley Police Department, an elected official was punched while marching. The actor has a Dec. court date.

The first candidate for the open seat on the Nutley Board of Commissioners announced their intent to run for office.  Christopher Cullari, a 41-year-old Spring Garden resident, set up a campaign website ahead of the Spring 2020 election.
